Trip To Niigata
Early in November, I visited Aganomach in Niigata with my family. Aganomachi is located on the border of Fukushima and Niigata. It's very quiet, inconspicuous place in the mountains. The Agano River runs through the town and flows swiftly.
There are some interesting spots like Shogun-sugi ,the hugest cedar in Japan, 1400years old,38m high, about 20m around. It's bigger than the cedar in Yakushima. Byodoji-Yakushido has its long history. It is one of the oldest building in Niigata prefecture. This photo which I took is Yakushido . Besides, I found an interesting story " The wedding of the foxes "in Japanese, きつねの嫁いり. Every spring, there is a parade of " The wedding of the foxes. " Sounds fun, doesn't it?
Hotel Tsunogami is located on the side of the mountain having ski area, a pool, tennis courts, an athletic park. The Tsunogami lake is behind the hotel and lots of cherry trees stand in a row along the approach path to the entrance. If I visited there in spring, How beautiful those cherry blossoms would be !
At the lounge of the hotel where the old song " Love Story " was being played. So nostalgic and sweet . Although the atmosphere of the hotel was rather old-fashioned, well maintained. Looking at the view of the mountains colored red and yellow, having a good cup of coffee, listening to a nostalgic music made me happy.
At dinner time, autumn flavored food were served. I like mushroom soup きのこ汁 grilled salmon with vegetables 鮭のちゃんちゃ焼き,Niigata Koshihikari new rice was special ! Chestnut and persimmon were also sweet .
I took an open-air bath 露天風呂 for three times a night. Actually the hot spring bath of the hotel is spoken well by many tourists. Sitting on the rock in the bath like a mermaid? and looked up the sky. Some stars were twinkling bluely , humming many songs ♪Starry Starry Night♪ ♪ Wish Upon A Star ♪ "♪Fly Me To The Moon ♪somehow ♪ いいゆだな~Ah Hun Hun Ba Bang Ba Bang Bang Bang~♪
The night was still and I refreshed myself in a very quiet moment covered with fantastic autumn atmosphere.
Thank you for reading my article.

Your dinner sounds so yummy!
Alas! I've never eaten「鮭のチャンチャ焼き」,which I'd really like to try once! Thank you for a fantastic travel account! I really enjoyed it!
What a wonderful holyday you had!
Your article made me be interested in Aganomachi.
Byodoji-Yakushido and a parade of the wedding of the foxes are very interesting!
I’d like to eat ちゃんちゃ焼き and きのこ汁.
I’d like to watch cherry blossoms and eat cherries.
露天風呂 with twinkle stars is fantastic.
Autumn is good for trip, I think.
I am becoming hungry now.
Bye. See you.
Sounds you had a very lovely trip holiday. I had a look at the hotel website and it looks such a gorgeous accommodation, lucky you! I didn’t know there is a bigger cedar in Niigata than that in Yakushima. (Actually my husband loves the island of Yakushima.) Lots to see in the world, and in Japan, too.
I'd never known Aganomachi in Niigata until I
visited there in this month. Most of people don't
know such an inconspicious place. There are so many
popular places to see such as Kyoto, Okinawa,Hokkaido
etc, though, I wish I could find such a hidden place
and enjoy it !
Well, I couldn't hug the giant cedar becouse there was
a rope around it. Do you know " Heart beat of tree"?
of its heart beat.ドキドキ!
鮭のチャンチャ焼きis famous in Hokkaido, for example,
Ishikari, people put on a whole salmon on the iron plate
with vegetables and soybean paste みそsometimes some
butter( I like it!).It's a kind of outdoor cooking.
Why don't you give it a try with your family !
Have a beautiful day!
How are ya doing?
Exactly! Autumn is a good season for traveling and
enjoying seasonal food. I also had Matsutake dobinmushi
though, I would rather like きのこ汁 putting in shimeji,
shiitake,maitake,nametake and other unknown mushrooms
and burdockごぼう,devil's tongueこんにゃく,green onions.
That harmony of flavor was so------ delicious!
When I took 露天風呂, Nobody was there. Just like my
own private 露天風呂!
Have a nice new week ! See you around !
It's beautiful day,isn't it?
Yes, I really enjoyed my trip to Niigata.
We drove through Fukushima to Niigata and then
I remembered you live in Fukushima now.
Although the cidar is the biggest one in Japan,
I'm so interested in Yakushima cidars like your
husband. I'd like to vist more places not only in
Japan but also abroad. When I imagine such a dream
My heart becomes young and feel happy!
of "Love Story"? How wonderful your English lesson was!
Have a lot of fun in this week !
Cheers! cheese!
I'd like to see the mermaid. イヤラシイ.
But I don't like to see a sea lion. ♀\コラ!
カズカズノ ゴブレイ please forgive me. I put autumn songs by lion in my blog "Test of pictures". Please listen. See you...
We..ll, Wh Why on earth you said " I don't like
to see a sea lion."? You peeped me through the
wood ,didn't you? コラ!/
I listened the autumn songs this morning.
I especially love Lion's song ! Thank you!
Take care and have a happy funny day!

Have a lovely new week ! See you around
I have ever seen that river Aidu area. That's the bigest river in Aidu.
How long did you take for Agano town from Tochigi?
Then, where road did you choose for Nigata?
If you chose R 294,you might pass by close my living area.
See you around! I'm looking forward to read your news.
How are you doing? Oh you call Agakawa instead of the
Aganogawa ? Sounds interesting!
It took about three and a half hours from my home to
Aganomachi via Koriyama JCT,Tohoku high way then,we took
Banetsu high way to Tsugawa IC. I know R294 but I didn't
know it could get through to Fukushima. R294 is the road
to drive easily and free! I'll give it a try next time to
British Hills!
Thanks for your message and good information!
Have a beautiful day!
i really want to get to shogun sugi, we are from
hawaii and coming in august, can you help me to figure
out how to get there by train?
Thank you!
Welcome to my blog site.
Thank you for your nice comment from such a far place in the middle of the pacific ocean. I was so glad to read your message.
Well, do you want to see shogun sugi in Agano town in Niigata? Agano town is very quiet , unconspicuous countryside as a sightseeing spot, tough, there are great nature such as mountains ,rivers, trees and flowers and hot spring which can heal our heart and body. If you come from Tokyo, it's better to take Tohoku shinkansen ( bullet train ) to Koriyama
and change the line to Banetsu Saisen local line and get off Tsugawa station.

Have a beautiful day! MOKO
Please feel free to ask me if you need further informations.
See you around.
You should get off at 五十島(Isojima?)station. Not Tsugawa station!
You can get to Shogun-sugi 15minutes on foot from the station.
