Hello everyone, Have you ever had any part time jobs before? I've had some jobs at a Takoyaki shop, a coffee shop, and a hotel. The most unforgettable one was working at Hotel Okura Tokyo as a room maid when I was young.

Officially Hotel Okura is one of the top class hotels with five stars in Japan. On the other hand, there's a pleasant working place for me in those days.

Many celebrities such as former prime ministers, politicians, business executives, musicians, novelists used to visit and stay there. Also staff members, chefs, front clerks, bell boys, waiters were so nice and most of them were from the local areas all over Japan after graduating high school, Baby Boomers.

Our floor manager,Mr. T was middle aged guy from Niigata, wearing black tie and a cool black suit. His professional behavior and polite way of talking was really impressive.

One day, Sammy Davis Jr, outstanding African American entertainer ,had stayed our hotel for a few days and then he came over our floor station and talked to our manager. Unfortunately as I was working then , I thought " I wish I could have his autogragh!" I just imagined he was walking, snapping and chanting ♪ti-kong ti-kong chiki chiki kong♪ just like on CM of Suntory Whisky.

Even though I was just a part time worker. Hotel Okura gave us a wonderful opportunity to enjoy an international famous pianist’s concert at Heian-noma, the most luxurious banqueting hall at the hotel. Also I could have delicious lunch at the big cafeteria for employees FOR FREE! What a generous mind! In another word 太っ腹! My most favorite dish was Swiss steak with mushroom sauce.

On my birthday, Our manager bought me a birthday cake made in Hotel Okura and all staff members on our floor celebrated me in a small lounge. I can't forget that cake's taste and what is more , the kindness and warmth of the people worked together at the hotel.

My part time job experience at Hotel Okura in good old days still remainds in my heart....

Thank you so much for reading my lo--ng story.

Your story is not long. It is very easy to read. You may have a knack for English literature like Agatha Christine. I enjoyed reading your stories. So long...

Hello MOKO!

Hello Harry,
I'm glad to hear you enjoyed reading my story at Hotel
Okura.I think I don't have such a knack for English
literature at all though, it's fun for me to write my
memoir of my life. The happiest thing for me, there's
someone who visit my blog and read my story.
Thanks for your kind words. See you.
P.S
I liked Donna Summer's " On the radio"

Hello sora,
I'd been working hard in those days because I was
a poor girl living in an old apartment in Tokyo
by myself.(4.5tatami mats, no bathroom )
My life was poor but seemed shining at that time.
Thanks for your coming and message for me.
Have a nice day!

Hi Moko! WOW! You were working at Hotel Okura, the five-star facility in Toranomon with such luxury and elegance. I've never stayed there so I wish I could stay at the very hotel at least once. I sometimes buy canned corn potage soup made in Hotel Okura, which really tastes good.

During my school days I was having several part-time jobs. The most glamorous job was an advertising campaign for a brand-new tea.
In this promotional sales activity, I was wearing a shining yellow imitation leather micro-mini skirt and a hat ←Can you believe this? Your entry this time reminds me of my slender figure in the past! And thank you for Eagles' Hotel California!

Hi Sapphire ,
Exactly ! Hotel Okura is in Toranomon, very cross to
the American Embassy. I was just a part time room maid
though, I could enjoy the splendid atmosphere there.
I've ever stayed at the hotel only once! BUT...
The room was 倉庫!On the national railroad's(旧国鉄)
strike day、we stayed there using the extra beds.
That was so thrilled and a lot of fun for me like a
school trip!

Wow ! Were you wearing such a micro-mini skirt,
weren't you ?
I imagined the shining costumes of Pink Lady's UFO.
I thought " Saphhire must be so cute in good shape
and sing this song with dancing ! ".
I'm so glad to hear your part-time job experience.
Thanks for coming and your comments as usual.
Have a beautiful day!

Hi MOKO
Wow! You have wonderful memories!
I’m envious of you.
I remember the CM!
CMs of Suntory Whisky in those days were nice and they used to make me felt lonely and sentimental.
Your articles sometimes carry me back to my old memories!
I enjoyed this one, too.
Thank you!

Hi norako,
I have a little bit strage feeling, Cause I've
never seen you nor knowing where you live though,
I feel as if you were one of my old friends.
Perhaps, we've been in the same era on the earth,
right? I'd be happy if my story brought you back
to your good old days.
Thanks for your coming and comments.
See you around! (*^O^*)/

Hello Moko-san,

I am a religious minister living in Kaneohe, Hawaii since June 2007. I came across your blog while visiting another site. What a concise, cheerful and inspiring message it is! I really enjoyed it. I once worked for a nearby Denny's restaurant as a part timer while I was in Japan, the company never ever provided us with such a luxurious service. Anyway, let me visit your site sometimes. Thank you!

Alooha, Mahaloo,
Have you ever been here? Hawaii is a perfect place to visit or to live in especially after retirement. However, when it comes to working here, it may be a different cup of tea... Having said that, as you pointed out, we have a clear blue sky, the beautiful sea we can go to in a 15-minute-drive, and unexpected cool breeze in the morning and night, and so on. BTW, my blog's address is as follows: http://make-peace.cocolog-nifty.com/blog/

And I admire you writing your blog in English. I started both Japanese and English blogs two years ago, I now cannot afford to update the English one due to my busy schedule. I don't think it is worth seeing but if you are interested in it, please visit this address:

I started to write my blog since last September and
then I wrote my articles in Japanese. One day I found a
site written in English , I dimired and thought I should
have written my articles in English because that's the
way of real studying. Now I'm rather enjoying writing
and chatting with the people visiting my site.
I visited both your blogs and they inspired me a lot.
You're from Shizuoka? So am I. I'm from Hamakita do you
know my hometown? Anyway I'll visit you again .
Aloha

Dear Moko-san,
Oh, my goodness. Your daughter is coming to Hawaii and our commond ground is "Shizuoka." What a small world! Of course I know about Hamakita, however, I've not been there, though my sister and family live in Hamamatsu.
And thank you for visiting my sites and your compliment. I am scheduled to go to NY for our seminar in the middle of this month, I will make a comment on it on my site.
