Do you know St.Patrick Day? Although it's an Irish holiday, even in Japan, St Patrick Parade helds on Omotesando street in Tokyo and Motomachi in Yokohama every year.

In our English classroom, we had a St. Patrick Party last week . In spring, we usually have Easter Party though, this year I tried to let my class know St. Patrick Day for the first time.

All of the students wore or put on something green, sweat shirt, pants, vest, hair accessaries ,skirf, handkerchief and bracelet . I also wore light green shirt and my favorite green stone pendant . One of the students didn't wear green thing so another students pinched him. but tried to not rough. He giggled a lot. We did some quiz on St. Patrick day and played games using shamrocks( three leaves clover)and ate green snacks and candies .

They seemed to be excited and so happy. I wish they could learn one more new thing about western culture. Pleasant spring atmosphere was filled in our classroom.

From Wikipedia...

Saint Patrick's Day (Irish: Lá ’le Pádraig or Lá Fhéile Pádraig), colloquially St. Paddy's Day or Paddy's Day, is an annual feast day which celebrates Saint Patrick (circa 385–461 AD), one of the patron saints of Ireland, and is generally celebrated on March 17.

The day is the national holiday of Ireland. It is a bank holiday in Northern Ireland, and a public holiday in the Republic of Ireland, Montserrat, and the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. In the rest of Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, the United States and New Zealand, it is widely celebrated but is not an official holiday

Hi, Mokosan! I can feel the excitement and jolly and festive mood of your class on the street. I wish I could have seen your marching in green! You refer to green snacks and I'm wondering what they really are. I'm curious about them. I always find pleasure in your joyful account! Thank you!

Hi Sapphire,Thanks for dropping in my site again. Yes,We had a lot of fun to have St.
Patrick party though,we didn't parade just
stay in our classroom and playing games, for example " Shamrock hunt " " Memory chain" " Shamrock Fishing game"
When children could answer St.Patrick quiz
or won the game they got green soy beans snack or green vegetable snack(カルビー)
or green colored candies.

It would be great if we could have a St.Patrick parade in our town.
But I must be embarrased...
